Snow Storm

I took this picture from my car window on my way to school this week. The snow storm made everything into a fairyland.

See the pretty snowflakes
Falling from the sky;
On the wall and housetops
Soft and thick they lie.

On the window ledges,
On the branches bare;
Now how fast they gather,
Filling all the air.

Look into the garden,
Where the grass was green;
Covered by the snowflakes,
Not a blade is seen.

Now the bare black bushes
All look soft and white,
Every twig is laden, --
What a pretty sight!

Pay it Forward :-)

I will send a handmade gift to the first 3 people who leave a comment on my blog requesting to join this PIF (Pay it forward) exchange. I don’t know what that gift will be yet and you may not receive it tomorrow or next week, but you will receive it within 365 days, that is my promise! The only thing you have to do in return is pay it forward by making the same promise on your blog.
So basically, if you comment and you’re on, I’ll send you something crafty that I’ll make!
Once you sign up, copy and paste the above paragraph on your blog, and three other lucky people will be recipients of your handmade work.

Icicle #2

This one looks a bit better I think. I printed out "you were never ordinary" on photo paper and inserted it into an organza sleeve. I had received a little card with that written on it when I bought a little something on eBay. It was so sweet and quirky - it's now posted on my fridge.

Icicle doll?

My friend, Angela posted some of her beautiful "icicle" dolls to our artists' website.
She had gotten the pattern from Belinda at Bel's Nook.

I love them! I tried making my first one over the weekend . For some reason mine looks a bit carroty. I'll try making another today.

Altered Postcards

These are my first altered postcards - I have such a large collection of old postcards! It's great to find something creative to do with them. I'll be trading these out at Paper Traders. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Paper_Traders/

Mandalas

I finally learned to create a mandala using Photoshop. I took a photo I had taken in Jamaica and used a section of it over and over. I made some color adjustments and used a filter on the finished piece.

Mandalas

I used a photograph I took of a Dale Chihuly glass sculpture . In Photoshop, I rotated and flipped a section of the photo and then applied filters and lighting effects.
This one is created using a Clare Goodwin pattern I downloaded from her site. It was in the Virtual Coloring Books, Volume I.

I used the template to insert pictures I took on our trip to London and the Cotswolds.

Journal Spread

This is for Nick's gorgeous journal about all things old. The quote is from Shakespeare's As You Like It.
"
And I mine. I remember, when I was in love, I broke my
sword upon a stone, and bid him take that for coming a-night to
Jane Smile: and I remember the kissing of her batlet, and the
cow's dugs that her pretty chapp'd hands had milk'd: and I
remember the wooing of a peascod instead of her; from whom I took
two cods, and giving her them again, said with weeping tears,
'Wear these for my sake.' We that are true lovers run into
strange capers; but as all is mortal in nature, so is all nature
in love mortal in folly."

Recent Journal spreads

This one is for Janine - her journal is about Our Muses. I used the quote by Delacroix because my anti-muse is perfectionism, lol. I guess my muse says "just do it, you fool".

Recent Journal spreads

This one is for my neice Molly's Journal about song lyrics.
This one is based on REM's "nightswimming", one of my favorite songs.
